About Martin
Honest, hardworking, and nothing short of meticulous, Martin is passionate about being the best he can at whatever he sets out to do.
A self-confessed workaholic and family orientated, Martin loves nothing more than the simple pleasures, spending time with his family, listening to music and donning his jeans and T-shirt for DIY.
Mortgage Experience
Martin qualified in 1996 as a Mortgage broker within the HEAL group (Halifax Estate Agencies Ltd), owned by the Halifax bank, and within 6 years was responsible for managing all mortgage consultants within the HEAL group and the Bank branched around Berkshire.
Head hunted in 2002 by Mortgages Direct, he took a post in north London where he grew a team of 2 to 10 mortgage consultants covering 16 Haart estate agencies to offer outstanding mortgage and protection advice.
Head hunted again, he moved back to Reading in 2004 where he was lead consultant for a large chain of estate agents, helping to qualify buyers and assist in their moves with mortgages and protection products. The role took him back into management where he was promoted in 2007 to build and run the training for new consultants joining the company with great success.
2008 saw a downturn in the markets and many redundancies, Martin took the opportunity to re train as a wills writer to fill gaps whilst looking after existing clients needs. This aspired him to go it alone and in 2009 went self employed as a broker.
In 2012, he set up WestBerks Properties Ltd as an addition to his brokerage to assist those landlords who were fed up with estate agents who did not care. This grew exponentially until Martin felt it was taking too much away from consulting and made the decision to move the business to another agent of whom he had association with for many years so he could concentrate full time on his mortgage and protection work.
With his 27 years of mortgage, protection, property and legal experience, Martin is best placed to help steer all those who have little or no knowledge of buying, selling, investing in or protecting finance for property. He will advise, jargon free, on Mortgages and Protection as well as giving advice on what to look for when thinking about buying a property to call home or invest in for the long term.
